Their work in North St. Louis County is one of the most comprehensive community development efforts in the United States and the largest in the St. Louis region. The organization began as a dwelling organization in 1975.
This organization’s comprehensive work spans several key impact areas that are essential for thriving families and communities. The organization assists with homing, education, health, employment, economic development, municipal government, and more.
BH recognizes that high concentrations of poverty doesn’t just harm those most directly impacted. In addition to devastating the lives of generations of St. Louisans, the negative impact of these conditions have a rippling effect across our entire region.This can be seen in failing schools, decreased public safety, a negative national image, and limiting our region’s growth, wellbeing, and prosperity in every way.
